My blender is left “on” and on the counter all summer long so a refreshing, heat-busting, frozen drink recipe is never too inconvenient. (I loooooooove my BlendTec!)
Whether I’m coming in from the garden, getting home after a sweaty hike, or just trying to escape the mosquitos, keto frozen drinks fuel my summer days.
Why Keto Frozen Drink Recipes?
Quick disclaimer: I don’t follow a keto diet. I don’t avoid carbs. And, I eat lots of rice, beans, and fruit. I just don’t eat sugar.
In any form. (Well, I try not to. Sometimes, it’s not always possible. I refuse to be a jerk about it.)
I don’t believe you have to “be keto” to be conscious of all the ways sugar (and natural sweeteners, too) sneak into everything from your crackers and salad dressing to your pizza sauce and, obviously, dessert.
So, even though I don’t eat keto or follow a low-carb lifestyle, I DO eat keto desserts. Here’s a post I wrote about why I eat keto desserts even though I’m not keto. (And no, it’s not because I’m watching my weight.) 😉
Frozen drinks are another way we slurp down sugar, usually without the foggiest idea how much we’re actually consuming.
Don’t even get me started on the amount of sugar in things like Starbuck’s frappucinos, Wendy’s frosties, and McDonald’s shakes!
Even making these treats at home, it’s easy to over-do it on the sugar — leading to the crash later on.
It’s so, so easy to eliminate the sugar altogether and make keto drinks and desserts instead!
Then, you can enjoy all the frozen lemonade, slushies, fraps, and milkshakes you want — without worrying or feeling guilty about the sugar!
How to Customize Keto Frozen Drink Recipes

Here’s how to customize frozen low-carb drink recipes just for you…
#1 — Swap the sweetener.
Some people don’t tolerate xylitol or erythritol or monk fruit or stevia. Pick your favorite keto sweetener and sub it in the recipe. Remember that stevia is WAY sweeter than all of them, so use way less! My favorite keto sweetener is my own blend, Dietz Sweet. Lakanto is another good one. Here’s my favorite stevia.
#2 — Swap the milk.
In recipes that call for dairy, simply swap it for your preferred, keto-friendly milk. Almond milk, macadamia nut milk, and full fat coconut milk are all perfectly acceptable subs for dairy milk and cream.
#3 — Swap the coffee.
Several of these frozen keto drink recipes are fraps with coffee. If you avoid caffeine, use decaf coffee. Even better, use some Dandy Blend! It’s a crazy-good coffee sub with liver-loving benefits!

#4 — Make it vegan.
In any recipe calling for a protein powder or collagen, simply leave out the animal product for a vegan and keto frozen drink. Likewise, substitute heavy cream with full fat coconut milk or your favorite, creamy, vegan milk.
