Chocolate cravings??
This Keto Chocolate Collagen Shake is quick, easy, ultra-chocolate-y, and absolutely nourishing!
You’d NEVER guess that it’s not made with ice cream, dairy, and tons of sugar.
I cannot tell a lie… this Keto Chocolate Collagen Shake is totally dairy-free, doesn’t use nut milk, and is 100% low-carb.
Not that I’m against carbs, mind you. I am totally in favor of complex carbs like sweet potatoes, butternut squash, rice, soaked beans, and quinoa.
I’m just not in favor of carbs from sugar (or sugar’s natural forms: honey, maple syrup, etc.). It’s why I eat keto desserts, even though I’m not keto.
About Keto Sweeteners
We eliminated *most* forms of sugar, including honey, years ago. Occasionally, we will use lower glycemic/high mineral natural sweeteners like coconut sugar, coconut syrup, and maple syrup.
In fact, we tap the maple trees on our property and make our own maple syrup! We just don’t use it regularly.
We use raw honey medicinally, but not as a sweetener for desserts.
So, what do you we use??
Keto sweeteners!
Long before monk fruit and allulose and luo han guo got popular, I was mixing my own blend of erythritol and stevia. It’s called Dietz Sweet, and it saves a lot of money over buying pre-made keto sweeteners like Swerve and Lakanto. (Although, if that’s what you have, you can definitely make this keto chocolate shake!)
We’ve been using Dietz Sweet as our sweetener of choice for over 4 years now and haven’t had a single bad effect.
I did tons of research on alternative sweeteners before deciding that they were, in fact, safe for my family. You can download that research in my Free Guide to Alternative Sweeteners!

Keto Chocolate Collagen Shake FAQs
What kind of blender is best?
I LOVE my BlendTec! It makes the best smoothies and shakes — always creamy, never un-blended chunks!
I’m not dairy-free. What can I use?
To keep this shake low-carb, you can sub heavy whipping cream for the coconut milk, if you like. There are no dairy subs for the remaining ingredients.
I don’t like avocados. Do I have to use it?
I pinky promise you will not taste even a hint of avocado in this Keto Chocolate Collagen Shake! My kids don’t like avocados either, and they gave this shake their seal of approval.
What is “full fat coconut milk”?
Canned coconut milk, baby. The GOOD stuff!
I am so careful about the ingredients in dairy-free milks, and cartons of coconut milk (and almond, oat, flax, and cashew milks) have WAY more ingredients than water + nuts/oats. They often have preservatives, sunflower lecithin, natural flavors, and even canola oil added to them!
Plus, their fat content is way less than canned coconut milk. Believe me, for this chocolate shake, you want as much fat as possible for the creamiest, thickest result!
I love Thrive Market’s coconut milk (just coconut + water).
Now that you know everything there is to know about this thiccccc shake, let’s make it!
