Healthy Chunky Monkey Milkshake (stevia-sweetened, dairy-free option)
Chocolate + bananas + peanut butter = Chunky Monkey! This sweet, rich Chunky Monkey Milkshake is awesome with breakfast or as a quick snack. It’s sweetened with stevia, so it’s lower in sugar than a “normal” milkshake, plus it has the added benefits of grass-fed collagen. Make it dairy-free, too, if you like!
Because Ben and Jerry knew what they were doing when they created the flavor that is…
Chocolate + bananas + peanut butter = Chunky Monkey!
This is a delicious and healthy milkshake made in honor of that famous flavor — but without all the added sugar.
While other recipes on the Internet call for store-bought vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and even more added sugar, this Chunky Monkey Milkshake recipe is the exact opposite.
You will love how simple and nourishing this easy chocolate, peanut butter, banana milkshake is!
Just 6 Ingredients in a Healthy Chunky Monkey Milkshake!
Assuming you have ice, of course. 😉
To make this Chunky Monkey Milkshake, you will need…
- milk of choice — such as raw, grass-fed milk or dairy-free milk of choice, such as oat milk, almond milk, or coconut milk (not canned coconut milk)
- raw cacao powder <– save 10% on my favorite raw cacao with my discount code NOURISHING
- no sugar added peanut butter (just peanuts, nothing else)
- a scoop or 2 of grass-fed collagen <– save 10% on my favorite glyphosate residue-free collagen with my discount code ALLTHETHINGS
- stevia (optional, but recommended unless you find that the banana gives it enough sweetness)
The antioxidants in raw cacao, plus all the nourishment in raw milk, the added protein and gut benefits in collagen, and the added fat of organic peanut butter makes this a great kid-friendly (or adult-friendly) snack or breakfast!
My little monkeys love Chunky Monkey Milk alongside their scrambled eggs or as an afternoon snack. I especially like making this recipe for my daughter, who grew tired of drinking plain milk all the time. She drinks this with gusto!
It’s so quick and easy — just throw it all in a blender and press a button! — that even little kids are able to make it all by themselves!
Recipe FAQs & Ingredient Subs
Since this healthy Chunky Monkey Milkshake has just 5 easily found ingredients, there shouldn’t be much of a need to sub. But, I’m here to talk up this yummy chocolate + PB + banana milkshake, so I want to make sure you’re making it with confidence!
We’re dairy-free. What’s the best dairy-free milk to use?
In this instance, I don’t recommend canned coconut milk. Instead, a homemade coconut milk or almond milk is perfect. If you don’t make your own dairy-free milks, use a store-bought milk substitute, such as oat, coconut, almond, or cashew milk with squeaky clean ingredients.
Nutrition info for this recipe is for raw, whole milk, however.
Is the collagen necessary?
No, it’s not necessary, but it does add a big punch of nutrition and protein. Without the collagen, this milkshake lacks protein and not macro-balanced, which is so important for a healthy snack.
Is this Chunky Monkey Milkshake low-carb?
The nutrition info is included below the recipe. It’s not “low-carb” but it is much lower in carbs than a pint of Chunky Monkey ice cream! 😉 And, the carbs are coming from bananas, not sugar.
Do I have to use stevia?
No, if you prefer to leave it out, leave it out. You may find the sweetness of banana to be enough. If so, great! Still need some extra sweetness but don’t want to use stevia? Add in a date or 2!
How to Make a Healthy Chunky Monkey Milkshake
Mommas, this is such an easy and quick snack or addition to breakfast!
Just put all the ingredients in your blender (I looooove my BlendTec) and blend!
