The Ultraviolet {a wild violet cocktail}
I’ll bet you money that you can’t walk into your local sports bar or even a high-end restaurant and order a cocktail like this one…
Because the star ingredient in this cocktail isn’t something everyone has.
Sure, you can buy violet syrup — but I guarantee it won’t be nearly as healthful, as tasty, or as special coming from Amazon. (<– That one contains Red #40 and Blue #1.)
So if you live where wild violets grow, I highly encourage you to take an afternoon, put on your sun hat, and pick your own violets — or send the kiddies out to do it 😉 — then make my wild violet simple syrup.
Now, you can use that lovely purple simple syrup to make this: The Ultraviolet.
I tasked my readers, friends, and family on FB with the naming of this bright purple cocktail. The options were: Purple Rain (in honor of Prince), The Drunken Violet (my personal choice), V-Cubed, Ultraviolet, and Violet Vixen. I couldn’t pick the name on my own because all the choices were fantastic and so clever.
The Ultraviolet it is!
Here’s a bright, floral wild violet cocktail that’s as tasty as it is unique. I hope you’ll give it a try!
The Ultraviolet {a wild violet cocktail}
Here’s what you need:
- 2 ounces wild violet simple syrup (If you don’t like sweet cocktails, use 1 ounce.)
- 2 ounces non-GMO vodka, such as SKYY or Absolut
- juice of 1 lime
- 1 cup ice
- cocktail shaker
- ice cubes (frozen with violet petals, optional)
Serves 1.
Here’s how to do it:
Add 1 cup of ice to the cocktail shaker. Then add the wild violet syrup, vodka, and lime juice. Shake, shake, shake!
Place wild violet ice cubes into a lowball glass. Strain the cocktail out of the shaker and into the lowball. Sip and enjoy the floral flavor of spring in a glass!
As a vodka “aficionado, I love this. My daughter served this to me on a recent visit to her home. Of course Lindsey is my wonderful and beautiful daughter, so I am not prejudiced, just blessed. If you haven’t tried this you are missing out one great tasting cocktail!
Um, I love this comment so much. What a good dad 🙂 Cant wait to try this LIndsey!!!!!
He’s the best dad! And this is a yummy cocktail!
