Vanilla Coffee Sugar Scrub
You’re probably thinking, Wait a sec. What is going on??? She doesn’t drink coffee or eat sugar!
And you’re right!
But… I finally found a good use for these 2 ingredients that won’t cause the jitters or a blood sugar crash!
Vanilla Coffee Sugar Scrub!
Exfoliate away the last bits of dry, scaly winter skin AND give cellulite a temporary boot with this coffee sugar scrub. Oh, and you’ll come out of the shower smelling pretty fantastic too. 😉
The caffeine in coffee reduces the appearance of cellulite by dilating the blood vessels under the skin. This produces a temporary toning/tightening of the skin. It’s not a long-term fix for cellulite (which is absolutely normal and healthy, by the way!), but if it gives you a bit more confidence to don a swim suit and play in the water, then scrub away!
Whether it reduces cellulite or not, the silky smooth skin you’ll have after using this scrub will be well worth it! And the smell….pure heaven!
Vanilla Coffee Sugar Scrub
Here’s what you need:
- 2 cups organic evaporated cane juice
- 1 cup finely ground organic, fair trade coffee (not decaf)
- 3/4 cup coconut oil, melted
- 1/4 cup olive oil (optional, can use all coconut oil if desired)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Here’s how to do it:
Melt the coconut oil. It should be liquid, but not hot.
Combine the evaporated cane juice and coffee and stir until combined. Add in the melted coconut oil, olive oil (if using), and vanilla. Stir until incorporated.
The final consistency should feel like damp beach sand.
Store in an airtight container in the bathroom. (I put this in cute jars and gave it to our moms for Mother’s Day!)
To use, scoop out a generous amount and rub it all over places that need exfoliating — heels, hands, knees, elbows, or your whole body.
If you’d like to temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite, focus on areas of cellulite, such as on your butt or thighs. Let the scrub to sit on the skin for a few minutes before rinsing off. This allows the caffeine to tighten the skin.
This Vanilla Coffee Sugar Scrub also works great for washing hands after touching things, like fish, that have odors that soak into the skin.
