A Healthier Chai Spiced Eggnog Recipe Perfect For The Holidays
There are lots of food and beverages that are closely associated with the holidays, from gingerbread cookies and candy canes to pumpkin pie and mulled wine. And the arrival of eggnog in the dairy section of the grocery store is definitely high on that list. The problem with store-bought eggnog, however, is in the ingredients list. The added preservatives, gums, and artificial ingredients added to keep eggnog shelf stable, not to mention the high amounts of refined sugar, make it the kind of “treat” that does far more harm to your body than it’s worth.
Luckily, homemade healthy eggnog is so much easier than you’d ever expect, making it perfect for any last-minute parties or unexpected guests. It requires only a handful of basic ingredients and a few minutes of effort and attention to make eggnog at home. And the best part is you know exactly what is in it and can adjust it to your taste accordingly.
The recipe below for the Chai Spiced Eggnog starts with a simple base of egg yolks, coconut cream, coconut milk, and coconut sugar. But what makes this recipe extra special (and extra cozy) is the addition of Earth Echo’s Chai Bliss. This amazing superfood blend has all the traditional spices found in chai, which means it tastes as comforting as a warm hug.
But Chai Bliss is so much more than a comforting spiced drink. It also has natural nootropic energy blend to help boost brain energy and focus, as well as astragalus and zinc to help support immunity. Adding Chai Bliss to this healthier homemade eggnog recipe takes a traditional indulgent treat and creates something truly nourishing and perfect this time of year. *
The recipe below is a small batch intended for two servings, but it can easily be doubled if needed. Just keep in mind that because this recipe uses only natural ingredients, it should be consumed within a day of making it.
There’s also the option of adding brandy (or whiskey, or rum) to the finished product for a little extra holiday cheer. Though the recipe is just as delicious without the spirits.
Give the recipe below a try and indulge in the holiday festivities like you never have before!
