With whisky and hints of lime, bubbling sparkling water, plump blackberries, and earthy sage, the stevia-sweetened Black Betty is not only beautiful to look at, it's also quite tasty! Try this low-carb paleo black-berry and sage cocktail for your next party or girls night in!

Ingredients

For The Blackberry-Sage Syrup:

  • 16ouncesfrozen blackberries
  • 8ouncesfiltered water
  • 1/4cuppacked, chopped sage leaves and stems
  • 2limesjuice and zest
  • steviato taste

For The Cocktails:

  • whisky
  • ice
  • sparkling wateror sparkling lime water for more lime flavor
  • lime wedges
  • sage leaves

Instructions

Make The Blackberry-Sage Syrup:

  1. Combine all syrup ingredients, except the stevia, in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until reduced and thickened to coat the back of a spoon.
  2. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a jar.

Assemble Your Cocktails:

  1. Fill a lowball glass with ice.
  2. Add a shot of whisky and about 1/4 cup of the Blackberry-Sage Syrup.
  3. Fill to the top with sparkling water.
  4. Add a lime wedge and sprig of fresh sage to garnish.
